Bhutan, land of the peaceful Dragon, lies in a hidden corner high in the eastern Himalaya, sandwiched between Tibet to the north and the Indian states of Sikkim to the west, Assam to the south and Arunachal Pradesh to the east. The country within these borders forms a giant staircase, from the grassy floodplains and riverine forests in the south through semi tropical and alpine forests to some of the highest unclimbed Himalayan peaks on earth.
DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDU
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our Blue Bird representative and driver will meet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and escort you to your designated hotel. The representative will help you to check into your hotel. In the hotel, you will be briefed about your daily activities during the tour.
DAY 02: SIGHTSEEING IN KATHMANDU
Kathmandu valley is the historical and cultural heart of Nepal and has been a popular destination for tourists ever since Nepal opened its doors to visitors. The valley offers you a wonderful mix of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influence. After breakfast, you will be guided to visit renowned monkey temple - Swoyambhunath. After lunch, you will be visiting Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square.
DAY 03: DRIVE KATHMANDU TO CHITWAN
After breakfast, you will be driven to Chitwan National Park (186 KM /5 hours).. On arrival you will check into the resort / jungle camp followed by welcome drink and briefing about the jungle activities. After lunch you can proceed for exploring nearby local villages.
DAY 04: JUNGLE SAFARI AT CHITWAN
The day starts with nature walk and bird watching tour. After breakfast, you will proceed for jungle safari on Elephant back to see different species of deer, Royal Bengal Tiger, rare one horned rhinoceros, wild boar, leopard, monkeys, birds and many other small animals. After elephant back safari tour you will proceed for Dugout Canoe Ride in Dungre / Rapti River to see 2 types of rare species of crocodile - the marsh mugger and the fish eating Gharial. You will then visit elephant breeding farm & drive back to the lodge. Late afternoon village walk will be organized in the nearby Tharu village. In the evening you will observe “Tharu Tribal Dance” presented by the local Tharu people.
DAY 05: DRIVE CHITWAN TO KATHMANDU
After having breakfast and some jungle activities, you will be driven to Kathmandu which takes around 5 hours. Once you reach in Kathmandu, you have free time to enjoy & relax. You have time for you next trip to Tibet which will commence on tomorrow.
DAY 06: FLY KATHMANDU TO PARO
Today you will be taken to airport to take the flight to Paro (Bhutan). The flight offers you beautiful view of mountain and landscape. You will get Bhutan visa on passport upon showing visa approval letter plus 2 pp size picture. Meet/greet by our guide and drive to Hotel.. In the Afternoon / evening time, you will be free at leisure. You can visit around the market.
DAY 07: DRIVE PARO TO THIMPU
After breakfast, you will be taken to half day Paro sightseeing – visit Drukyel Dzong, the historical fortress built in 1647 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel to commemorate his victory over Tibetan invaders. Also visit Ta Dzong, which was built in 1651as a watchtower. Since 1951 the Dzong has been re-established as the National Museum and holds fascinating collections of art and religious Thankha paintings. In the Afternoon, you will transfer to Thimphu (65 KMS / 02 HRS) - the capital city of Bhutan. You can enjoy relaxing walk in the valley at evening.
DAY 08: DRIVE THIMPU TO WANGDI
After breakfast, you will have half day Thimphu sightseeing – visit Memorial Chorten - the Stupa builtin 1974 in the memory of late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. The paintings andimages inside the monument provide a rare sight into Buddhist philosophy. Alsovisit Mothinthang zoo and Viewpoint. In the afternoon, you will be driven to Wangdiphodrang (70 km) the last town on the highway before entering central Bhutan. The drive over Dochu La pass is very scenic with fascinating view of mountains of Bhutan
DAY 09: DRIVE WANGDI TO PARO
After breakfast, you will leave for Punakha- the valley which lies amidst snow-capped mountain peaks, served as capital of Bhutan until 1955. The Punakha Dzong built at the confluence of the Po and Mo Chu rivers in the 17th Century by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel. The Dzong houses sacred artifacts and the embalmed body of Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel. Drive to Paro which take around 5 hrs.
DAY 10 : FLY BACK TO KATHMANDU AND FREE TIME
Today you have a flight to return to Kathmandu. Once you reach Kathmandu, you will have free time for the rest, relaxation, shopping etc.
DAY 11: DEPART KATHMANDU
After checking out of the hotel, our representative will take you to the international airport for your flight towards onward destination.
